About Micha

Therapist, Facilitator, Storyteller, Mama to many animals

A steward of transmuting personal & collective traumas + stories into rewilding, reconnection, and regeneration. Champion of play.

While labels are limiting, they also breed familiarity, so in honor of that I am a licensed therapist, group and ritual facilitator, Reiki master teacher, and marketing director and storyteller. I hold a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Film Studies from San Diego State University and University of Oklahoma. I have a private practice offering all of my healing arts modalities and founded weREWILD, a living platform of resources, research and musings.

My work in sustainability & health/wellness as well as my writing has been featured in: The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Elle magazine, Los Angeles Magazine, Apartment Therapy, Refinery29, The Chalkboard Mag, Sakara Life, DesignSponge, FOAM, LAist, MindBodyGreen and more.

About Me

I have worked at Wolf Connection for almost seven years, an education and empowerment organization pairing rescued wolves with adolescents and adults – the global innovator in facilitating the restorative human-animal relationship with a unique focus on Wolf Therapy®. I became the first psychology clinical intern, then a Program Lead; I manage the Women & Wolves program and co-founded the 10-week Women & Wolves immersive program and served as a marketing consultant for two years, helping re-establish the messaging, voice, website and public-facing communications for the organization.

Prior to and somewhat during my therapeutic work, I carved out successful marketing, storytelling, branding and communication initiatives for clients across music, innovation, non-profit and technology industries for now close to 20 years as a Marketing Director.

A little more about me…

At three years old, I donned a leotard and tights and began the process of perfecting pas de bourrées in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A few years later, I sat behind a piano and painstakingly practiced until I could at least play the Robin Hood theme – Bryan Adams, you might remember it. Somewhere in between those single digit ages, I began to learn about mental illness and psychology – first only by experience and then by my own studies. As childhood wore on, I began to open to the discomforting discovery of what it’s like to feel so much – to love every living creature and to enter the pain and heartbreak of others in my immediate surroundings. We call these people empaths. I didn’t know then. I didn’t know for a long while.

So, music and dance (art in general) and the study of people – particularly how we communicate with one another and ourselves – became my adolescent preoccupations, my young adult pursuits and my purpose and professions. I studied professional writing, became a marketing director, and truthfully, I didn’t find my way to becoming a therapist and working in healing arts by having any traditional healers of my own for some time. Music, dance, writing, community and the animist world and four-legged companions were my healers and shamans growing up.

I have also been living with chronic illnesses, and I see you, if you, too, have complex somatic/physical symptomologies or any prolonged illness…especially if you have been mostly failed by the Western medical paradigm and other healers. I’ve resided in Los Angeles most of my adult life and most recently Idyllwild, CA.

Thank you for being here.

“I thought every facilitator (Micha and Amanda) brought so much soul, grace, and love to the program, each in her own unique way. (They) did a wonderful job of simultaneously holding space, going deep, bringing lightness, and just being incredibly REAL. (They) each had so much goodness to share, and I think so highly of all of them!”

“To say that this program is life-changing seems like an understatement. I feel like I will never be the same person again, in a good way. This program woke me up to something that was sleeping in me, an embracing of parts of myself as reflected to me through the wolves. If you are a spiritual woman who feels a connection with wolves, this program is for you! The program is facilitated by amazing women (Micha and Amanda) who care deeply about what they do and what they have to offer.”

“Micha blends her business savvy, keen intuition, and ability to ask pointed questions that get to the heart of the matter in her approach as a consultant and coach.  She creates a warm and welcoming space for exploration and growth, yet she’s progressive in that she’s two steps ahead leading me down the path towards my goals.  I love that Micha is a marketing and strategy ninja with an entrepreneurial spirit.  In this way, she can meet me in my quest for both personal and professional self-discovery.  WIthin our first session, I had major clarity on a challenge that had been weighing on me for months, and I knew that was just the beginning!”
